Cancellations  must be submitted 10 business days prior to start of workshop date in order to receive a full refund. Those cancelling within 5-9 business days prior to start of workshop will be assessed a 15% charge.

No refund will be issued for cancellations less than 5 business days prior to start of workshop.

A full refund of registration fees will be made if Purdue MEP exercises its right to cancel the program.

Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) - (5 Days) April 7, 8, 14, 15 and 16 2026

April 7, 2026 at 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

This five-day workshop provides the basic skills and knowledge you need to work with the programmable logic controllers (PLCs) found in a typical manufacturing plant. The course begins with a review of relay logic, and then you’ll learn PLC programming, including general logic, timers, counters, and math functions, followed by human-machine interface (HMI) programming.


Problem-Solving Training using PDCA, A3, and Root Cause Analysis

April 28, 2026 at 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

In this course, participants will learn about the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) problem-solving method. In addition, participants will learn about problem-solving tools and activities, including A3, root cause analysis, process mapping, cause and effect diagrams, and others.

Objectives:

  • Define “problem” and identify problem-solving skills.
  • Identify barriers to problem solving.
  • List the benefits of using a structured problem-solving method.
  • Explain the A3 problem-solving form and how it is used.
  • Describe the goals of each Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) step and activities that take place during each step.
  • Define “root cause” and distinguish between root causes and symptoms.

Intended audience: Manufacturing personnel at all levels who want to learn a methodical approach for problem solving or personnel who want to improve their existing problem-solving skills.

Introduction to Industrial Electrical Principles and Troubleshooting Part 1 (2 days) May 12 and 13

May 12, 2026 - May 13, 2026 at 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

This two day workshop covers the foundational concepts of electricity, including terms, circuits, direct and alternating currents.  The course also includes numerous exercises and examples. Participants who complete this course can expect to gain knowledge and learn skills useful in an industrial environment.

May 19, 2026 - May 20, 2026 at 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

This two-day workshop covers the foundational concepts of electric motors and industrial transformers. The course also includes numerous exercises and examples. Participants who complete this course can expect to gain knowledge and learn skills useful in an industrial environment.

GD&T Basic Applications - Level 2

August 11, 2026 at 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Serving as a continuation of GD&T Introduction – Level 1, this hands-on workshop expands upon the foundational concepts covered in the initial training. Participants will deepen their understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), a symbolic language used on engineering drawings to define part features such as size, shape, form, and orientation. By mastering GD&T, manufacturers can enhance clarity in design communication, improve inspection accuracy, and reduce production costs.
